Lake Simcoe Recreation

Each year the Canadian Home Builders Association and with the help of many volunteers and business sponsors host the Barrie Ice fishing tournament held on Kempenfelt Bay. I am happy to have entered for the past 3 years and would like to express the enjoyment each year I had participating in the tournament. It is by far one of the best run tournaments within the area.
Registration for the 2012 7th Annual Ice fishing tournament is available. The cost for each registrant is $85.00 (one hole). The date of the tournament will take place on Febuary 18, 2012 on Kempenfelt Bay (part of Lake Simcoe). As this event takes place during a license free weekend you do not require a fishing license to enter. The total prize pool is in excess of $50 000!

If you haven't been out fishing lately your missing out on a great time out on the water. With the beuatiful weather May and June has already produced you can only expect things to get even better as the months progress. For those of who are not interested in fishing there are many other activities you or your family can do on the water such as swimming, tubing, water skiing or just simply relaxing. Will you be out on the water this month and if you will be what will you be doing? Please participate in the poll creation.

This is a reminder to all boaters that you are now required to have a pleasure craft operators card for boating purposes. If you do not have a pleasure craft operators card please get one before your next trip out on the water. Its the law!

Spring fishing is here and everyone is getting ready for a great fishing season. This is a reminder to all fishing anglers and boaters out there to be safe out on the waters. Be aware of any debris that might have been left over from fishing huts during the winter season. If you do see any debris please take the responsibility to discard of it properly and help by keeping others safe.
Also for anyone who does not currently have their boating operators card this a reminder that as of September 15, 2009 all boaters will require this card.
